Limited to 10 students.
Tap Dancing for Actors is for everyone, from absolute beginners with no prior training, to rhythm masters getting back to basics. Rhythm is an integral part of the acting craft. Tap dancing is physical rhythm. It's making music with your feet. It's also an excellent listening exercise. The purpose of each tap class is to improve the student’s clarity, musicality, timing and phrasing. Students will learn to access their bodies natural rhythms, and then express them through percussive movement in time. Class exercises will help students develop their timing, balance, grace, flexibility, and articulation. To this end, students will learn all the basic tap vocabulary, from taps, flaps, shuffles, and riffles, to toe taps, heel digs, cramps rolls, time steps, paradiddles, shim-shams, trenches, and so much more - all in a fun and nurturing environment.
How to dress: Jazz pants, shorts, sweat pants, leggings, etc. What you wear to the gym would suffice. Loose, comfortable, clothing; but not too baggy. No taps shoe permitted. Please wear shoes with a hard sole that make a crisp sound.
