The Conservatory-style Acting Programs offered at The Acting Studio New York provide rigorous, professional training focused on developing the actor's instrument through disciplined study and practical performance experience. Rooted in the teachings of Sanford Meisner, the Studio's first-generation Meisner faculty continues the tradition of training truthful, emotionally alive actors through disciplined practice and performance.
Students may pursue comprehensive full-time training through our intensive Six Week Acting Conservatory, featuring 35 hours of training per week, or begin their professional foundation in our 18 month, three-tiered Acting Conservatory Program.

Beyond the classroom, Conservatory students have the opportunity to apply their training through Chelsea Repertory Company & LAB, the Studio's resident theatre company. The Six Week Acting Conservatory is a rigorous, immersive program for serious students ready to commit to six weeks of the highest level of professional actor training offered in New York. Designed to begin the development of well grounded, disciplined artists, the conservatory prepares actors to work truthfully and effectively in film, television, and theatre.
The program features a progressive curriculum totaling 34 hours per week, with classes held Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm over six consecutive weeks.

The Studio offers personalized private sessions for actors preparing for BFA and MFA auditions. Actors work closely with experienced Studio professionals who guide them in choosing and preparing audition material that reflects their individuality and strengths. Grounded in the Meisner Technique, the work supports honest, spontaneous behavior and helps actors feel confident, present, and prepared as they step into the audition room. This program is intended for actors with prior training who are seeking thoughtful, professional level guidance.

The Summer Acting Conservatory is a six-week, full-time program that runs Monday through Friday, offering 34 hours of professional Meisner training per week. This intensive program focuses on developing the actor's instrument and covers a wide range of techniques, including Meisner Acting Technique, Improvisation, Emotional Preparation, Text Analysis/Cold Reading, Scene Study, Contemporary Movement, Voice/Speech, Singing, Stage Violence, Voice-over Workshop, and Acting for the Camera. Designed for students committed to six weeks of rigorous training, this program aims to develop well-rounded, professional artists capable of performing in film, TV, and theatre.

The Acting Conservatory Program offers our full MEISNER TECHNIQUE TRAINING on a part-time basis in a conservatory setting with Chelsea Repertory Company for those working in the real world. The program is a prescribed, 3-phase, part-time, conservatory course of study for instrument development, beginning with the study of basic Meisner techniques, then applying them to the creative rehearsal process and finally presenting them in performance in conjunction with Chelsea Repertory Company. Most acting classes meet twice a week at each of these levels and outside rehearsal time is required. Most students who have to work for their living choose this program in which to study over a longer period of time.
