The Acting Program
The Acting Program is a phased course of study, leading the actor from a study of fundamentals and culmintating in highly specific performance skills.
Level I
Focuses on the completion of the Meisner foundation of acting principles and conditioning in advanced techniques for the organic and creative processes of the actor.
Level II
F
ocuses on the application of these techniques to the rehearsal process in regard to building a scene and creating a character, and on expanding the actor's sensibility to include language, style, and the play as a whole.
Level II and IV
Focus on developing ensemble and performance skills by working on fully-staged play productions. The Acting Program classes meet twice a week at each of these levels and outside rehearsal time is required. Voice, Speech, Alexander Technique, and Movement classes are offered in conjunction with the program at various points.
Admission to each class and level of The Acting Program is by the Studio director's selection and advancement to a higher level made by faculty decision. A Certificate of Completion is awarded to students who have successfully completed all levels of the program. The Acting Program participants also have a variety of opportunities outside the classroom for growth at The Acting Studio, Inc. including laboratory projects and performance practice through Chelsea Repertory Company and Chelsea Rep Lab.
