Over the past few years actors auditioning by self tape submission has quickly become the primary preference of casting directors. Almost all first-round auditions for film, theatre and television are now being conducted via self tape submissions. This fact requires actors to learn and to develop the proper technical skills of how to create a successful, self-tape audition. This class will teach all the technical basics of self taping including but not limited to camera type and tripod setup, effective lighting, filming a proper slate, edit, clothing, background, and audition reader. It will also teach how to connect with the camera, understanding the proper eye-line(s), and how to capture a sense of play in the audition. The class will provide the student with practical experience in creating at home and submitting their own self-tape auditions to be discussed in class.
