Chelsea Repertory Company

Chelsea Rep Production of Translations
Chelsea Repertory Company was founded in conjunction with The Acting Studio, Inc. to provide main-stage performance opportunities for select Studio graduates in Off-Off Broadway productions. Chelsea Rep is also intended to foster mentor relationships between the company members and the students who are at the advanced levels of training in our acting program. Student productions are also presented on a regular basis under the auspices of Chelsea Rep. Consequently, Chelsea Rep has become a company in the true sense of the word because all of our productions draw from a pool of Studio-trained actors who have a background and vocabulary in common.

The Acting Studio, Inc. has always been dedicated to providing affordable, quality training in acting and directing that is an alternative to elitist training institutions. Similarly, Chelsea Rep is dedicated to producing affordable, quality theatre that is accessible to a wide range of people. Ticket prices for all productions range from $8.00 to $15.00 and we have a program of neighborhood outreach to organizations such as Su Casa and SAGE.

At Chelsea Rep you might see an original play or an adaptation such as our production of Knoxville, 1915 which was based on James Agee's novel A Death in the Family; or you might see a play drawn from the repertoire of American and world theatre classics. Many of the productions reflect the unique aesthetic of resident director John Grabowski who has won acclaim for his ensemble-oriented and precisely detailed work with Chelsea Rep.
